DevSecOps that developers adopt and auditors accept

We roll out GitLab security scanning, vulnerability management and policy enforcement in a way that fits how your teams already work, with evidence your risk and audit functions can rely on.

What we implement

A security baseline for every project

01

Scanner coverage

SAST, secret detection, dependency and container scanning, IaC scanning, and DAST/API testing where it matters.

02

Policy as code

Scan-execution and merge-request approval policies applied centrally, so new projects are covered from day one.

03

Triage workflow

Severity thresholds, ownership and SLAs, so findings get fixed rather than ignored.

04

SBOM and licences

Dependency lists exportable as CycloneDX SBOMs and licence approval policies for open-source governance.

05

Compliance evidence

Compliance frameworks, audit events and reports aligned to ISO 27001, PCI DSS or internal standards.

06

Developer enablement

Short, practical training so developers understand and fix findings in the merge request.

Rollout

Start small, prove value, then enforce

  1. 1

    Baseline

Scan a representative set of projects and measure what you find.

  2. 2

    Tune

Reduce noise, agree severity thresholds and ownership.

  3. 3

    Enable

Turn on scanning across all projects in report-only mode.

  4. 4

    Enforce

Introduce approval policies for critical findings once teams are ready.

FAQ

DevSecOps questions

Can't see your question? Ask us directly. We reply within one business day.

What is DevSecOps?
DevSecOps means building security into every stage of software delivery (code, build, test, release and operations) instead of testing for it at the end. In practice it means automated scanning in pipelines, security findings delivered to developers in context, and policies that enforce minimum standards.
Which GitLab tier do we need for DevSecOps?
Basic scanners run on all tiers, but the full experience is in GitLab Ultimate: vulnerability report, security dashboards, security policies, DAST, API security and compliance frameworks.
Will scanning slow our pipelines down?
It does not have to. We tune scanners to run in parallel, scope them to changed code where possible and schedule heavier scans (like DAST) appropriately.
How does this relate to JFrog Xray?
They are complementary. GitLab scans your source and dependencies during development; JFrog Xray and Curation govern the binaries and open-source packages entering and leaving your artefact repository. Many of our clients use both. See software supply-chain security.
